DIDREX® (benzphetamine hydrochloride) is a sympathomimetic amine, which is similar to an amphetamine. It is also known as an "anorectic" or "anorexigenic" drug. Didrex stimulates your central nervous system (nerves and brain), which increases your heart rate and blood pressure and decreases your appetite. Didrex is an appetite suppressant used along with diet, exercise, and behavior therapy for the short-term management of obesity.
How to take the Didrex medication
Take on an empty stomach, once daily, 30-60 minutes before breakfast. Do not increase your dose or take it more often than prescribed because this drug can be habit forming. Also, if used for a longer period of time, do not suddenly stop this medication without first consulting your doctor. This medication is usually taken for 8 to 12 weeks.
Didrex Side Effects
Possible side effects include restlessness, nervousness, difficulty sleeping, or dry mouth. If they continue or are bothersome, consult your doctor.
Precautions with the Didrex drug
You must not exceed the recommended dose or take this medicine for longer than prescribed without checking with your doctor. Exceeding the recommended dose or taking this medicine for longer than prescribed may cause serious side effects.
